Yes. The SS01 set is a weighted set. The king weighs over 60 grams (2.1 oz.) and the total set weighs approximately 1400 grams (3 lbs.). This makes our set on average 3 times as heavy as the standard regulation plastic club sets in use, but not as heavy as some larger, triple-weighted sets on the market.

Full specifications can be found on the product detail page. The king is 80 mm tall with a 33 mm base. Designed for a more comfortable playing feel, the SS01 set is approximately 15% smaller than a basic club set, yet the consistent piece proportions and wide diameters make it feel comparatively better suited for games at all levels of play.

The Stanton Series 01 pieces consist of a precision cast metal base, a silicone rubber core, and an ABS plastic exterior shell with soft finish surfacing.

Full specifications can be found on the product detail page. The Flexmat has a total length and width of 450 mm and 2.5 mm thick. Each playing square is 50 mm, well proportioned for use with the Stanton Series 01 set.

Flexmat is made out of high-quality silicone rubber with a 60A durometer making it sturdy yet flexible. This allows the mat to roll up for easy storage or transport and also lay flat and hold its shape once unrolled. The top of the mat is treated with a soft-touch finish so the pieces slide smoothly during play.

Stanton Series 01 and Flexmat are designed for everyday play in both casual and club settings. While our products meets most of the specifications outlined for tournament play, the materials may limit them from use at higher levels of competition. Please note: these products have not been evaluated by the International Chess Federation or certified for use.
