If you are looking for a chess set that is portable, and appealing at the same time, then this set is for you. I had had came across the Nymzo S1 Opening Edition and was amazed of how simplistic the pieces looked . I had read reviews of people saying “wait until you feel the pieces in your hand” and I’m telling you that is exactly what you have to do. The pictures that you see in all these reviews hold no justice to how sleek and perfect the pieces are. The knight has the “Staunton” look to it but futuristic at the same time. The Bishop is simple and clean cut, the Queen is perfect weight and size. It just feels good in your hands. Definitely go to say the knight is my favorite thing about the whole set though! The board is next level as well! You would think with the weighted bottom it would stick to the mat but it slides amazingly easy. That was super important to me with making this purchase. Most “club sets” the pawns stick to the board when you slide but not this set. Everything feels good when you slide it across the board. Even after having the board rolled up for a couple days, it layed out flat and stayed flat on the corners where most mats start to curl and have that “ripple” effect that never really goes away. Hands down this set gets a 10/10 from myself. I can’t even say that I have a negative thing to say about it at all. It came packaged with plenty of stuffing inside the box to ensure nothing was damaged, each piece was individually wrapped with care as well.…

I love independent creators of all sorts, and when researching travel chess sets, I came across the Stanton Series: 01. Took a chance, and couldn’t be happier.

The pieces feel solid, balanced, and weighted. Heavier than my previous wooden set. They even took the care to include an extra queen for each side as you pass those pawns. The plastic is durable, essentially LEGO plastic, which gives me peace of mind trekking around with them shuffling in the bag. They aren’t scratching each other up or losing finish etc.

The carrying bag is great quality, has a strap, and the zip tie keeps everything snug.

The board unrolls and stores easily with a stretchy fabric loop. It also lays flat when you are ready to play, no edge curling. The chess pieces glide easily along the texture of the board.

Overall I’m excited and have many more games to play on this set! My only critique would be the seam lines on the pieces, which are viewable under scrutiny, but not felt. Small thing for an otherwise perfect set. I’ll order the next set y’all release too, looking forward to what comes next. Cheers!
